Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters is a popular anime created by anime Studio Gallop on the basis of the manga series designed by Kazuki Takahashi. In fact, it’s the second attempt to make an animated series out of the work of this master. The first one was made in 1997. It was a huge success that encourages numerous manga spin-offs, anime series, a trading card game, and a few video games to be launched. The main idea of this franchise is to play different games, yet the most common game is known as Duel Monsters. This anime series gained tremendous popularity in the world. A real-life card game called Trading Card Game was created on its basis. To play this game, Seto Kaiba invented a spcial holographic image system to be used on special Duel Rings where all battles and fights happen.
The world the events take is obsessed with one thing – the game which is called Duel Monsters. It’s derived from ancient Egyptian carvings. It was created by a big admirer of Ancient Egypt, Maximillion Pegasus. The essence of this competition is face-to-face Duels between two players with the help of special cards. Each competitor has the Deck which includes 40 cards of two types – Monster and Spell ones. After the Deck is shuffled, the duel begins – every player is given 2000 Life Points, the number of which will be slowly reducing with every lost battle. Five cards should be taken to form a hand with which players will fight. It’s also possible to summon different cards from that hand either to attack the enemy or to protect the owner of that deck. If the attack made has been chosen, cards with monsters are used – the monster that possesses the lower level of power is automatically viewed as a dead one. Spell cards are used to affect others. All destroyed monsters and spells are taken to the place called Graveyard. Players can trade cards with other players if there is the need for that – it’s allowed by the rules.
The main hero of the whole franchise, a teenager and high school freshman Yugi Mutou also has one mission in his life – to fight with other players in Duel Monsters and to win this competition. Being a bashful teenager who is constantly bullied by his classmates, Yugi has always had a great passion to different types of games. So when a new on, Duel Monsters, appeared, he made a decision to try his luck. And h happens to be really good a playing that game. The audience admires him, but there is something people are not aware of – a little secret that cast some light on his fortune. There is something that helps Yugi with his turns in the game and provides guidelines in the moments of the biggest confusion. His advisor comes from the times when the predeceasing game of this world’s new attraction was invented – Ancient Egypt. Yugi solved the riddle called the Millennium Puzzle that gave an access to a mysterious gambler to enter his physical vessel and be present on all events happening with the teenager.
Now Yugi, who himself is a skillful player, has additional support to fight all his rivals to reach the end of the competition. He has a long road ahead of him plus many monsters to lose before facing his main enemy, dangerous and cunning, but Yugi will not step back.
