Did you know that French could do some very good animated series? Well, if not, this one is the proof beyond any limits. And it’s a new one as well! Well, relatively as this series first aired in 2015. This date is at the same time a major victory for the show because it took it only a small time margin to become popular worldwide and earn a ton of popularity. Miraculous Ladybug is something that is suitable for kids and entertaining for older audience at the same time. The show has gone off to a flying start with 26 episodes in the season one. Besides, the web episodes and other content were released to support the main story. Season two is in the making with three more seasons reportedly being planned. So far so good for the show and it definitely deserves to reap the benefits.

The idea behind the show goes a long way, somewhat more than a decade. The concept was initially targeted at older audience and the overall picture was meant to be darker to suit deeper topics and include political situations. This, however, was changed later on and the show was suited more to the lighter tone and younger audience as a result. Its humor, however, can win the heart of any adult as well.

The authors take a short route with the names for each episode. Notably, each episode is named after a specific villain except the first one. It is named after Adrien and Marinette. These two are the main characters and their alter egos are Cat Noir and Ladybug respectively.

The story is set in modern Paris. Two teenagers, the ones we discussed above, are the protagonists. They were chosen to save the French capital from evil forces that plan on establishing their rule or even destroying the world. Antagonists vary in shapes and sizes, however, the heroic duo is not that easy to stop as they cruise to victory even under unbelievably difficult conditions. There is one secret twist to the story, however. The heroes don’t know the true identities of each other. Adrien is Mariette’s crush while he views her only as one of his classmates. This small addition makes the story that tiny bit more enjoyable and leaves something to wait for in the future episodes and seasons.
It is worth noting that the show was originally planned to be not just a one-season adventure. It is known that the author plans to release at least 6 seasons of Miraculous Ladybug.
It seems that the authors were not wrong about their predictions considering the show. The animated series became extremely popular in France. This led the show to be shipped across the whole world. The Mysterious Ladybug was aired in 120 countries worldwide. It took the show only 10 weeks to make it to the top 10 animated series in the United States. The result was similar to online platforms like Netflix and airtime in other countries.

The series is based on CGI and it takes approximately a year to finish one episode. Most of the episodes are under development at the same time, however. This means high risks as well, but the show is so well-accepted by the audience that all the risks go aside in comparison to the market profits.
We have seen only one full season so far, but we also know that more is yet to come. This leaves a huge space for speculation: what will happen next? And we know that it can’t be bad because these French guys know how to make a generic formula work like it is a new cinematic breakthrough. At the meantime, we can enjoy some fiction done by our huge community, the fans. We surely deserve that some of the best stories are included in the main series, right?
