Tonight was the night, you decided. You had had enough. One night of this shit was far more than any sane man could handle. You’d endured four, and you were fifteen minutes away from upping your count to five. Foxy was giving you so much trouble that you were only barely able to slam the door in Bonnie’s face. If things continued this way, you’d either have to resign and pray for a new job to stay off the streets, or be promoted to a performer the hard way. You weren’t quite sure why you hadn’t resigned yet, actually. Dying out in the cold would beat this. Continue reading “The Nostalgia Gambit” »

Five Nights at Freddy’s is a horror video game developed by Scott Cawthon for all admirers of this genre. The story dwells upon a restaurant called Freddy’s Fazbear’s Pizza. Once, this was a crowded restaurant for children with a lot of entertaining activities – the full-size colorful automatic animals that can sing and dance. The animatronic robots were programmed to amuse the crowd and entertain guests. A number of tragic events keep people from visiting this place any longer – a man dressed in an empty animatronic costume kidnapped and murdered five children. Also, following the numerous complaints about the food and cleanness, the Health Care decided to close this place in a year time.
As a player, you perform the duties of a night guard who has two tasks – check security cameras and not to get killed by spooky animatronics. At night, these robots like to take long strolls inside this restaurant killing people there, mostly guards. It was too expensive to repair them, so they hired the security. All security workers, employed in this restaurant, have no distinct peculiarities except their names which vary from Mike Schmidt, Jeremy Fitzgerald to others and practically each one of them gets murdered at the end. Guards are working five times a week plus additional Saturday shift if they want to.
He should sit the whole night in his small room from twelve to six AM (only eight minutes in reality) monitoring security cameras in order to see whether animatronics are in their place and not to allow them to go near doors. The player is checking the location constantly not to miss any movement. This guard can monitor only one position at once which narrows his control of this situation. Someone has written the Rules for Safety on the wall to remind what not to do during the night shift. The limited amount of electricity can be used by this security guard to protect himself and if it’s completely exhausted the light goes off, and all doors are dangerously unlocked. In such a case, any animatronic can enter the room, and this human will be dead.
Except for this security worker, there are no other humans in this game. The recorded message from The Phone Guy is played before every game at the beginning of guard’s shift and gives him guidelines on how to handle animatronics and defend his life. These instructions are useful, but they didn’t save the Phone Guy from attack. There is a bad guy in this game – the former employee of Fazbear Entertainment or even a co-founder called the Purple Guy which is guilty of murdering five kids in this place. The common theory claims that these robots are so violent due to the fact that the spirits of murdered children have settled in five animatronic characters. These characters include Freddy Fazbear and his three friends – Chica the Chicken, Foxy the Pirate Fox and Bonnie the Bunny. From time to time the fifth character appears, Golden Freddy, but he is in the form of a hallucination.
The player knows that no hope is left when a long bell sounds – this is a message that animatronics are near. This means that this guard hasn’t paid attention to doors and these robots are already in his territory to appear unexpectedly in his view. In this game, it’s called jumpscared and denotes the end of the game. Animatronics will attack and murder you the same moment you see them. The Fazbear Company now needs to find another guard who can survive untill the morning. Do you want to give it a try?
