Peter Quill ran a hand down his weary face, scratching slightly at the scuff growing on his jawline as he put the Milano on cruise before he crashed his beloved ship into something on purpose just to cure himself of boredom. Of course, he’d never actually do that, but after flying for hours upon hours and listening to his Awesome Mix Vol. 1 until Drax had at least memorized and understood the lyrics to Hooked on a Feeling, he had to get up and do something. For all fans of Marvel comic adaptations, in 2014 a comic series Guardians of the Galaxy were transformed into a hilarious, adventurous movie. The main characters and plot remained practically the same. In 1988 a small boy, Peter Quill, was kidnapped from Missouri, Earth, by a group of space pirates on the same day his mother died in a hospital. These pirates known as The Ravagers abducted the boy following the order of Yondu Udonta, their leader, who had to deliver the boy to a mysterious man. Instead, he decided to leave the boy to train him as a thief and pickpocket. Twenty-six years have passed in a wink; Peter is an adult man with great pickpocketing skills working for the sake of The Ravagers.
He holds a grudge against the pirates for stealing him from his home planet and decides to take revenge. One day he steals some valuable orb from the planet of Morag that was supposed to be in Ravagers’ hands trying to escape with it. These pirates are not the only ones who want this artifact. After stealing this orb, Peter is hunted down by the fanatical race of Kree with Ronan the Accuser as their leader, an extremely cruel villain. He orders Gamora, a restless and merciless assassin, to bring back the orb and kill the thief. She was specifically trained by a Titan named Thanos who is good at training deadly assassins.
When Yondu discovers the theft and Peter’s betrayal, he announces a bounty for his capture – two bounty hunters are chasing him, Rocket, a genetically engineered raccoon that knows everything about weapons, and Groot, a humanoid tree that is able to say one word – Groot. All these characters got arrested by the police troops, the Nova Сorpus and are sent to an austere prison Kyln. After arriving at this place; someone tries to murder Gamora – she is connected with Ronan. They met Drax the Destroyer whose family, wife and little daughter, was murder by Ronan. He seeks revenge and is ready to do everything to achieve his goal. Gamora reveals that she has to fulfill her own revenge – to kill Thanos.
All the members of this small enterprise with the orb don’t know what is so valuable in that artifact – they decide to sell it, split the money and never to see each other again. But first, they need to escape from prison. Each of them possesses peculiar skills, and together they are able to leave the prison planet. Being lucky, they stole the spaceship and set off to the meeting with a client. After the team reveals that an immeasurably destructive stone is hidden inside the orb, they make a decision to give the stone to the Nova Сorpus. This stone of infinity is so powerful that in strong hands it can destroy the whole universe. If someone is using this stone without sufficient powers, it will exterminate this person in a second. This stone is the remnant of ancient singularities which predated universe in the past and sealed into six different stones.
They proclaim themselves the Guardians of the Galaxy; Peter now is the Star Lord – they begin their rescue mission. During their task, they find out what a real friendship and union means. The final battle with Ronan almost kills Peter, who decided to use the stone against Ronan, but when other members of the team join and share hands, this stone considers them a proper power and exterminates Ronan. The galactic society is very grateful to them plus their criminal past is forgotten, they have a new mission – to protect peace in the Galaxy.
