Henry Allen was led from his cell towards the visitation area. This was normal enough; his son came to see him every few weeks. But Barry had just been here last week, and it was unlikely that he would have come again so soon. This was more to Henry’s request than Barry’s desires. The boy would have been in every week is Henry would have allowed it. But he didn’t like to think of his son wasting his life away on the other side of a glass partition, talking to the father who had never been there. The request was just as selfish as it was noble however, because it hurt Henry to see his son growing up without him. Continue reading “Of Luck and Lightning” »

One of the most popular DC Comics character, Flash, is now having TV series dedicated only to him. The story revolves around Barry Allen, the CSI investigator, who has genius brains but it’s hard for him to communicate with people and that makes him an outcast in his department. Plus his hobbies include different supernatural and paranormal events. This comes from his childhood – his mother has been murdered when he was a child in a very mysterious way, and he tries to understand what happened. The only thing he remembers is the lightning ball with a human face that appeared in their house on the day of the murder. No one believed him, and his father was accused of this crime and imprisoned for many years.
One day during a terrible artificial storm provoked by an explosion of particle accelerator, Barry gets struck by lightning. Gaining consciousness after a nine-month come, Barry finds out that the unique radiation from particle accelerator explosion changed his body. He now has a paranormal ability to move faster than the speed of light. He decided to use these supernatural abilities to fight criminals and other people changed by radiation, known as metahumans, who are not using their abilities for good. Barry has an ally in the face of Harrison Wells, a scientist who created the particle accelerator and who is an outcast now. He teaches Barry how to use his powers in special S.T.A.R. Labs. Also, Barry gets help from Cisco Ramon or Vibe, a mechanical engineering genius and a metahuman who is the leader of Team Flash. Plus his fiancé and a police detective, Iris Welsh assists him in various crime investigations.
Barry has no intentions to reveal his true identity to all people in his city, but during one battle people find out about his abilities – Barry is believed to be a Hero by citizens. Not all people with new supernatural abilities use them in a proper way, that’s why Flash has a lot of foes. He has a constant feud with the Rogues, a group of enemies united to defeat Flash. Captain Cold, their leader, has elaborated a code of honor for the fights to be fair. Another villain whom Flash considered his friend is Dr. Harrison Wells. The story reveals that this is not Wells anymore – it’s a villain Eobard Thawne called the Reverse-Flash who disguised himself as Flash’s friend and took his identity. When Flash gets acquainted with Zoom, a demonic speedster, that hates every metahuman with the Speed Force, he finds out that there exists a parallel reality or dimension – Zoom managed to increase his speed to the level that he can break the barriers between dimensions.
Zoom himself is from another dimension named Earth-2 – he wanted to get along with Flash but then changed his mind to kill him. Dr. Wells from parallel reality arrived to help Flash conquer Zoom. When Flash learns that there are numerous dimensions, he decides to explore this multiverse. He travels in time to save his mother from being murdered by the Reverse-Flash at the same time drastically altering the reality. This new process is called Flashpoint timeline, and things are changed in all universes. The outcomes of these changes create a new villain, Savitar, who possess speed powers and Killer Frost from Earth-2. He tries to find another evil Reverse-Flash in all dimensions – they bring an H. R. Wells from the dimension named Earth-19. He happens to be not an evil engineering genius and scientist but a simple science fiction novelist. Does that remain you of somebody?
