“Clementine!” Ava cried, but the girl was nowhere to be seen. Her heart pounded painfully in her chest as she ran through the garden to look for her. She tried to persuade herself that all was well that Clem could not have happened, but her subconscious was not there. For too long she had been on the road.
We only play hiding places, she said to herself for the thousandth time, this is just a game. There is no danger! Continue reading “To Death We Go” »

If you fancy horror films or TV shows, Walking Dead will capture your imagination. This is an American TV series that demonstrate one of the most frightening versions of future for human beings – zombie apocalypse. Being extremely popular, this series now includes seven seasons and the eighth one is up to be shown in 2017. The idea about people not being able to prevent some kind of virus contagion which turns humans into mindless mutant-monsters originates from comics of the same name. Every human being is a bearer of a viral pathogen that brings them back to life after they are dead in a disgusting and repelling form. And it’s easy to join their ranks. One bite or scratch is enough to become monsters which are referred to by the surviving humans as walkers or roamers.
These are, in fact, corpses that for some reason have regained mobility and insatiable need of human flesh. They don’t respond to anything in the outside world except loud noises and don’t have to eat or sleep to survive. Something makes their bodies moving but their consciousness is destroyed. They are not immortal but it’s complicated to murder such a beast – they don’t pay attention to wounds or injuries and if you want to kill such creatures you need to destroy their brains or burn the whole body. Referred to as lame-brains, these zombies are dangerous when they form a big crowd in a tight space. To avoid walkers, you should move quite which it hard to do.
The first person we get acquainted with is the former sheriff’s deputy, Rick Grimes. He has spent some time in a coma after being shot during his duties. The last thing Rick remembers is how he was conducting an arrest in a pretty ordinary world. He wakes up in an empty hospital in King County only to find out that the apocalypse has come and the planet is now inhabited by dump walking dead or zombies who are literally everywhere. They eat humans and animals turning them into their own kind. It looks like other humans are scarce nowadays. Trying to figure out what is happening in this world; Rick worries about his wife and son and decides that in this chaos he should start looking for them.
Along the way, Rick meets other humans so they unite – it’s easier to survive in a group protecting each other backs. Together with his new friend Morgan Jones, who explains him the current state of things in the world and how the catastrophe took place, Rick travels to Atlanta to find what has happened to his family, Lori and Carl. And that’s a real miracle that he finds them as well as his old partner from the police department, Shane. They live in a so-called Atlanta camp of survivors. They protect it day and night knowing that their security is vague and walkers can come any minute. Rick tries to adjust to the situation, learns how to protect himself and gets along with other members of the group.
Soon all hidden secrets become evident – Rick reveals that Lori is dating Shane as she considered him to be dead. Plus there is a growing conflict with another member of Atlanta survivor group, Daryl Dixon, an arrogant and brutal hunter who has opposite views to Rick’s in every business. He has an old brother, Merle, an avid racist, with whom they plan suspicious and dangerous things. The world reminds hell and all of them need to cooperate to stay alive plus not to become part of a big friendly zombie family.
